Productivity Protocol
This entry will be an on-going checklist of the “Productivity Protocol”. Consider it a list of laws governing the productive, actual and aspiring.
1. Pen[cil] and paper will be carried at all times: The first and most important law of any productive lifehacker, is that writing materials must be available at all times. Ideas, like tides, wait for no man. If Law #2 is followed, Law #1 may be relaxed.
2. Invest in a digital recorder: Writing is good, but you can speak much faster than you can write. Ideas flow quickly, and you’ll be surprised how many you have throughout the day. Investing in a good digital recorder can be the difference between remembering these ideas now, or remembering them when someone else has made a buck on it.
3. Do NOW: Never put off until tomorrow what you can do today. Procrastination is the kryptonite of production. Print that, laminate it, carry it around with you. If you have a fantastic idea, get started on it immediately, tomorrow may be too late.
4. Rest when rest is won: You don’t need a break now. You haven’t been working that long. When you think you can’t possibly put another moment in, put 30 more minutes to the task and then spend the next 30 thinking about what is left to be done and reviewing the work thus far.
5. Go to bed with a plan: The last thing you think of before you fall asleep should be what you plan to get completed the following day. If you followed Law #2, consider bringing it to bed with you. You may have ideas during the night.
More to come, in the mean time:
