“Things in motion, tend to stay in motion, things at rest…”
Inertia; one of the first basic laws of physics we learn in grammar school. This law can quite easily be applied to any self improvement topic. Move towards your goal, and you tend to remain in motion, rest on your laurels and let the days pass you by and you’ll tend to remain there. Heres get moving, and remain in motion.
Carpe Momento
More important that seizing the day (anyone can do that) seize the moment. Ask yourself, “Is what I’m doing, right now, the best utilization of my time?”. Every minute is an opportunity to improve, to move forward; seize the one upcoming and begin moving towards your goal.
Of course, this isn’t to say you shouldn’t spend any of your time doing something you enjoy. During these times you should just insure you are utilizing your free time to have the most enjoyment possible.
Ballistic Trajectory
Think of yourself as a ball, rolling down a hill towards an incline and ramp. The more speed you gain before the incline, the further it will take you. You won’t even have to expend any energy, your previous work (gaining speed) will be enough to carry you.
Applying this to self improvement, the more habits, problems, issues and projects you tackle now, the less you will have to deal with tomorrow. Today’s conquering of them will carry over.
In conclusion
The law of Personal Inertia states that, those that work to achieve their goals today, tend to continue tomorrow and achieve them. Those that waste today, tend to waste tomorrow.
