Hiatus

1 February 2007

First off, let me start by apologizing for my long-hiatus. I’ve been busy overcoming some personal phobias and furthering various portions of my personal life.

Still, I shouldn’t have neglected this site for so long.

Look for a new section, Overcoming Phobia, chronicling in part my personal struggle with ‘dental phobia’. As always, comments welcomed.

The 5 Best How-to Websites

5 September 2006

eHow and wikihow: Both exceedingly useful how-to websites, both for geeks and non-geeks. I find the wiki much more useful, and the subject matter is much more diversified, from health to relationships, finance to tech.
Makezine and Makezine/Blog: MAKE magazine is about the coolest magazine on the market. I highly recommend getting a real subscription, but the next best thing is definitely the blog. Updated daily, there are tons and tons of awesome how-tos and guides to be had.
Instructables: My personal favorite, Instructables.com took an awesome idea and produced an awesome how-to website. It makes posting how-to’s with pictures exceedingly easy, and more and more users are taking advantage.
CNet Howto: This is a mostly-tech howto and tip/trick website, but useful nonetheless. Good browseability.

delicious tagged howto
: Del.icio.us is a repository for lots of useful information, and the subject of howto is no different. Tons of useful links, updated frequently (obviously).

Did I miss one? Comment it in below.

The Only 8 Photoshop Tutorial Sites

4 September 2006

…you will ever need.

Phong Tutorials: Phong’s design has gotten a bit…crazy, but their Photoshop tutorials are still top-knotch.

Planet Photoshop: Planet Photoshop has a number of excellent tutorials, and a moderately popular forum for your questions.

Good-Tutorials.com: More tutorials than you could ever possibly need or use.

Spoono: Spoono has been around for quite some time, they don’t have as many tutorials as the first 3, but the ones they do have are very useful and extremely in-depth.

Adobe’s Delicious: Adobe’s del.icio.us page is rife with resources for every one of their products, not limited to just Photoshop.

Absolutecross.com: Has quite a few helpful tutorials, again, not quite as many as some of the others.

Tutorialized’s Photoshop Section: Tons, TONS of tutorials and guides from the king of tech-tutorial sites.

Designertoday Tutorials: Pretty niche tutorials, but worthwhile nonetheless.
